Every detail of this scarce limited edition displays truly superlative craftsmanship. The trim is made of 925 sterling silver, as is the eight-sided barrel, which features fine engravings in the style typical of Proust's main creative period (filigree is delicate and intricate ornamentation popular at the turn of the century). The hexagonal barrel also bears the engraved signature of the writer from which it takes its name. The top of the cap is surmounted by the ivory-colored Montblanc star. I like the pen but the smoothness is somewhat lacking-I would like to replace the nib with a broad to enhance the smoothness-is that possible? Or can a nib meister fix it? Was as very happy with the condition of the pen.It was as you described it "new" meaning not used but advertised as used because of the stipulations of Montblanc.
