The Homo Sapiens Carbon Moiré is the result of years of meticulous experimentation, merging advanced techniques with a truly unique aesthetic. Known for incorporating unconventional materials, the Homo Sapiens line began with the iconic Homo Sapiens Lava Bronze, which utilized volcanic lava. Inspired by this legacy, our designers sought out cutting-edge materials, drawing from the craftsmanship found in Italy’s most prestigious supercars and hypercars.
This pursuit led to the use of forged carbon, a composite material made from carbon fiber fragments and resin. This gives the pen’s barrel an organic, dynamic pattern that is one-of-a-kind. What truly sets this material apart, though, is the intricate process of embedding gold leaf within the carbon. The resulting effect is extraordinary: a shimmering, almost holographic appearance that shifts with the light, reminiscent of moiré fabrics from which the collection takes its name. To maintain the integrity of this mesmerizing effect, the material remains uncoated, allowing you to feel the subtle ridges and textures of the carbon fibers—a tactile experience that adds to the pen’s appeal.
Forged carbon also makes the pen remarkably lightweight, a feature further enhanced by the use of grade 5 titanium for all metal components. This alloy is twice as light as brass or steel, and its color is naturally matched to the gold leaf through a controlled oxidation process—no paint required. The natural titanium finish is revealed in the Visconti clip through a precise laser engraving, creating an elegant two-tone effect. To protect the titanium, a nano-ceramic coating is applied, stabilizing the color over time and guarding against scratches.
The fountain pen version of the Homo Sapiens Carbon Moiré features Visconti’s innovative Power Filler Double Reservoir system, an upgrade from the original Power Filler mechanism. A clear acrylic window on the central ring showcases the ink level even when the pen is capped, offering both functionality and elegance. The cap includes an improved magnetic closure system for added security, while the 18kt yellow gold nib ensures a smooth and luxurious writing experience.
This limited edition of 226 pieces pays homage to the atomic numbers of carbon (6) and titanium (22), the key elements that give the pen its extraordinary lightness and strength.
