Estebrook's latest collection, "Back to the Lands," was inspired by the idea of slowing down the pace of our digital lives.
This collection pays homage to the 1970s era of flower power and free love, drawing on the decade’s back-to-nature movement and Americana spirit. It is designed for those who appreciate a retro aesthetic and the hippie ethos, offering a nostalgic writing experience through its distinctively themed products and packaging.
The "Funky Lake" pen features a classic design crafted from blue acrylic with gold trim and a brown centerband. As an added bonus, it includes two free gifts: a magnetic pen loop in a contrasting color and a sample of ink.
The pen's sleek clip adds a clean accent to the cap and slides easily into a shirt pocket. A cushion cap closure provides an additional seal to keep the nib wet. The fountain pen is equipped with a gold #6 JoWo steel nib and fills using a standard international cartridge or converter (included).
The pen is growing on me. The Funky Lake blue is startlingly plain compared to the usual swirls and chatoyance, but I like it for that simplicity. I got a Scribe nib, and it is an interesting experience to write with it. I’m left handed. When I write ‘overhand’ it is a bit scratchy. When I write underhand (not my usual position), it is smoother. When I try to write with my right hand, it is smooth and juicy, but my writing is close to illegible. The lesson to me is that I should get special nibs ground specially from a nibmeister who observes me writing. The product is quality; my hand is the problem.
