This 14k gold two-tone replacement LAMY fountain pen nib will fit almost every currently manufactured LAMY fountain pen. Compatible models include the abc, Accent, Aion, AL-Star, CP1, Dialog 3, Imporium, Joy, Logo, LX, Nexx, Pur, Safari, Scala, Studio, and Vista -- just about everything with the sole exception of the 2000. Feed not included.
Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.
The gold nib is definitely smoother on vertical strokes; however, strokes made in the horizontal plane are reminiscent of the standard Lamy nibs. That’s just the way Lamy nibs are cut, I suppose.
Another feature is that the gold nib leaves more ink on the page than the standard. My gold mediums lay down ink more like my standard broad nib. I say more LIKE, but not quite. In other words, my gold medium nibs put down a line that, in terms of width, falls between a standard medium and a standard broad.
The gold nib is springier than a standard nib. This I believe contributes to the overall smoothness of the writing experience.
I put gold nibs on my Aion and my Studio—two aluminum pens worthy of upgrading—but the Safari looks nice with a gold nib as well.
This nib is smooth and wet, on the wide side of the range for medium. All this is typical of Lamy nibs. The package arrived in a small bubble envelope, with the nib inside contained only in a small plastic bag that could shift around within the envelope. While the nib arrived in good condition, this packaging did not seem protective enough. I’ve ordered other nibs, including Lamy nibs, from other suppliers that arrived in small hard plastic containers, either bullet shaped, or square or like those used for ink samples. Truphae has always done a good job when I’ve ordered from them. But this time the packaging of this very small, expensive item did not meet my expectations.
It is the second time I bought these gold LAMY nibs. The nibs are very smooth. Writing with it like walking on an icy surface. Love it! If they were cheap, I would buy another two!
I found the Lamy gold F nib to be so utterly smooth It felt like writing on a cushion of ink, absolutely no friction or resistance what so ever. I was so besotted with it I didn't notice that its smoothness was due to it being the wettest nib I've ever had, and after a year of smearing journals and sketches I couldn't stand it any more.
I resigned myself to buying the EF nib and while I can now feel the paper underneath the pen it writes just slightly, (and I mean EVER so slightly, I had to do figure 8's to see the difference) thinner and a much more manageable wetness. and, oddly enough when flipped over gives a smoother line then than the F on its back. odd.
I can't bear to sell the F nib though or try to return it, it is simple too nice, too smooth to give up;......I suppose I will have to buy another Lamy
I chose these nibs for a Studio and a Dialog 3. Even on basic office supply notepads, these pens slide right across the page. Very pleasant to use.
