Winter Limited Edition Collection
The Winter Collection is the second release in the David Oscarson™ series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in four color variations, each piece is limited to only 128 units (including fountain pens and rollerballs).
Continuing the legacy of artistic mastery, the Winter Collection combines the centuries-old technique of Guilloché with the expertise of Hard Enamel. This collection is the first to incorporate three levels of Guilloché engraving on each piece, with four breathtaking colors of translucent hard enamel, accented with rich opalescent white hard enamel. Each color is limited to 128 pieces, ensuring a rare and exclusive writing instrument.
Guilloché
Handcrafted from 18-karat gold and .925 Sterling Silver, each component passes through multiple stages of precision engraving, creating intricate Guilloché patterns that bring light and life to the surface. For the Winter Collection, three levels of engraving are required: the first creates an ice pattern in high relief, the second forms a pinstriped background, and the third introduces a dimension of frost, adding depth and texture to the design.
Hard Enamel
The hard enamel process begins with the grinding of glass, water, and metal oxides by hand using a mortar and pestle. The resulting fine paste is applied to the engraved metal surface using a quill, ensuring full coverage. The components are then fired in a furnace at temperatures exceeding 1,000°F, fusing the enamel to the metal and forming a smooth glass-like layer. After cooling, the pieces are manually ground and filed to restore their shape and surface. This painstaking process is repeated multiple times to achieve the required enamel depth, covering the intricate Guilloché patterns.
The final pieces are polished and buffed, revealing the velvet finish of the translucent hard enamel, with each piece a testament to the highest levels of patience, skill, and craftsmanship. A five-year apprenticeship is required to master this complex process, ensuring that each piece meets the highest standards of quality.
Nib and Feeder
Engineered in Heidelberg, Germany, the 18-karat gold nib is plated with rhodium and tipped with iridium for durability. Each nib is coupled with an ebonite feeder, ensuring smooth and consistent ink flow in fine, medium, and broad sizes.
The Winter Collection represents a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship, artistic design, and premium materials, making it a true collector's item.
